Invisible Wounds: Intersectional Approaches to Trauma, Identity, and Dissociation Package
This recorded content package explores the intricate interplay between identity, trauma, and dissociation through the lens of cultural, racial, gender, and neurodivergent experiences. Each session sheds light on how systemic oppression, cultural narratives, and societal marginalization can both shape and obscure the clinical presentation of trauma—especially dissociation.
From the enduring psychological wounds of purity culture to the often-misunderstood intersection of LGBTQIA+ identities and religiosity, these talks emphasize the necessity of cultural humility and nuanced care. Presenters unpack the complexities of working with clients who have experienced racial trauma, adoption-related disruptions, and chronic misdiagnosis due to bias in clinical systems. Attention is also given to the specific therapeutic needs of neurodevelopmentally disabled individuals and transgender adults, as well as the role of rhythm and embodiment in healing from trauma.
Clinicians will leave with a deeper understanding of how to recognize, validate, and treat dissociation across a range of underrepresented populations. This package is essential for any therapist seeking to practice from an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive framework—whether online or in person.
